SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The junior tandem of Alexandra Darrow and Jackie Best each scored two goals to power the Frostburg State field hockey team to a 4-0 shutout of Sweet Briar, Wednesday afternoon.
Box ScoreDarrow finished with two goals and one assist, while Best added two goals as FSU pushed its overall record to 3-4. The Vixens fell to 0-6.
Frostburg poured on 36 shots while Darrow and Best accounted for 26, including 18 on goal. The Bobcat defense held SBC without a shot for the 70 minutes.
Darrow scored an unassisted tally at 7:07 and found Best for the Bobcats' second goal at 18:48. Frostburg carried that 2-0 cushion into halftime.
Best scored her second goal of the afternoon at 58:08, this time from senior Courtney Abell and Darrow capped the action with her second goal at 65:17.
Sophomore Jacqueline Gover picked up the win and her first shutout of the season.
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Hood at 1:00 pm.
