LATROBE, Pa. – Senior Megan White, along with juniors Malory Brunett and Ellie Garner combined to score nine goals as Frostburg rallied for a 15-13 women's lacrosse victory over Saint Vincent, Wednesday.
Box ScoreThe Bobcats (4-11) fell behind by four goals (4-0) inside the first 10 minutes of play, but rallied by scoring eight of the game's next nine goals for an 8-5 cushion. Brunett and White each scored twice in the opening half.
White opened second-half action with back-to-back goals inside the first minute of play and the Bobcats kicked off the stanza with a 5-0 run for a 13-5 lead with 21:44 showing.
The teams traded a pair of goals until the Bearcats (9-3) closed out the contest with six-straight goals that narrowed their final deficit to 15-13.
Despite the win, Frostburg was outshot 36-26, but was able to capitalize on its opportunities. FSU scored eight goals on 13 first-half shots and added seven goals in the second on 13 more shots.
Brunett led the way with three goals, two assists, seven draw controls, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. White contributed three goals and one assist, while Garner scored three goals on just three shots. Freshman Dylan Teitalbaum earned the win in goal after stopping nine shots.
Saint Vincent was led in scoring behind five goals from Kaley Burkhardt. Sarah Wallerstedt finished with three goals and two assists.
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when they host St. Mary's on senior day.
