FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Athletic Department has announced Theresa Walton as its next Head Women's Lacrosse Coach for the 2026-27 year.

Walton comes to FSU having most recently been the head coach at Division I Old Dominion University, a position she held from 2023-26.

Said Director of Athletics Rubin Stevenson, "We're excited to welcome Theresa as our next Women's Lacrosse Head Coach. She brings a wealth of knowledge and excitement to the program and we're looking forward to seeing what she can bring to Frostburg."

"I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named the next Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Frostburg State University." said Walton "I want to sincerely thank the entire search committee, Carrie Saunders, Rubin Stevenson, Nicole Lewis, and the Athletic Department for their belief in me and for making Frostburg feel like home from the moment I stepped onto campus."

During her tenure at ODU, Walton amassed 19 wins, including eight victories in 2024, the program's most in a season since 2017. Prior to joining the Monarchs, she served as the first-ever head coach at Division I Youngstown State from 2021-22. After earning two wins in the program's inaugural season, Walton led the Penguins to a 10-8 mark in their second year, winning a share of the Mid-American Conference Championship and securing Coach of the Year honors in the process.

Before taking the helm at YSU, Walton was an assistant coach at Division I VCU, Division II Mount Olive, and Division III Alma, primarily working with defensive units. A native of Syracuse, NY, Walton earned her bachelor's degree in communications at Division I Canisius College and helped lead the Griffins to back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's lacrosse titles, including the first title in school history. She earned MAAC All-Tournament honors during Canisius' first title run, tallying 42 goals and eight assists for 50 points during her career.
