Bobcats Claim 10 Top-10 Finishes At Messiah Invitational

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Junior Christina Smith collected three top-10 finishes as the Frostburg State University women's track & field team competed at the Messiah Invitational, Saturday.
 
Final Results
 
Smith's best performance of the day was a fourth-place finish in the shot put, coming in at 10.46 meters. In other throwing events, Smith grabbed eighth in the javelin (29.27 meters) and ninth in the hammer throw (30.39 meters).
 
Freshman Tiffany Cancel produced a second-place showing in the discus with a distance of 33.63 meters. In the hammer throw, Cancel grabbed sixth place at 32.46 meters while sophomore Cassi Chisholm followed right behind in seventh at 31.53 meters.
 
On the track, four Bobcats captured top-10 finishes highlighted by freshman Amy Virostek who contributed a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (71.99).
 
In the 1500-meter run, a pair of Bobcats grabbed the seventh and eighth place slots. Junior Bryn Allston crossed the line in 5:22.08 while freshman Alexis DeVault followed right behind in 5:22.81.
 
To cap the Bobcat's top-10 finishes, freshman Casey Columbus completed the 5,000-meter run in 20:24.57 to donate a seventh-place finish.
 
FSU returns to action on Apr. 19 to compete at the Mason Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg College at 10:00 am.
