Swimming Teams Hold Sixth After Day One of CAC Championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Senior Jesse Gregory and junior Meredith Johnson each posted an individual top-10 finish to accent the Frostburg State University men's and women's swimming teams after day one of the Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Championships, Friday night.

In all, the Bobcats posted four top-10 finishes in a pair of relay events, while individually FSU captured five top-16 finishes.

Gregory led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a personal best time of 2:03.61.

Sophomore Jonathan Shepard grabbed 13th in the 200-yard IM with a personal best 2:06.19.

Gregory and Shepard joined freshman Aleksander Combs and senior Vincent Faiella for sixth place in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:59.00.

Faiella and Combs, along with senior Drake Dobish and junior Jeffrey Page took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.80.

On the women's side, Johnson led the charge with 10th place in the 50-yard freestyle in a personal best 25.87. Junior Elizabeth Jarrell also posted a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.93, good for 16th place.

Sophomore Maci Quintanilla registered a personal best 2:26.32 and finished 15th in the 200-yard IM.

Johnson, Jarrell and Quintanilla were joined by junior Sara King for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:45.43.

In the final event of day one, Johnson and Quintanilla, along with juniors Kaitlyn Donch and Jaclyn Franzak earned sixth in the 400-yard medley relay (4:18.94).

FSU returns to the pool later today for the second day of the CAC Championships.
