ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The Frostburg State women’s 200-yard medley relay team captured a school record to highlight both Bobcat swimming teams on the second day of the Capital Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday night.
The foursome of Maci Quintanilla, Kaitlyn Donch, Jaclyn Franzak and Meredith Johnson took fifth place and set the school record in the process at 1:57.12. The previous record was 1:57.73 and was set in 1994.
Individually, Franzak turned in the best overall finish on the women’s side, taking eighth in the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 1:03.81. Autumn Phillips earned 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke and also turned in a season-best time of 1:15.07.
For the men, Jonathan Shepard captured the top solo finish. He took sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best 1:03.35. Caleb Stair finished 11th in the 100-yard butterfly (season-best 54.61).
The men’s 200-yard medley relay team of Stair, Shepard, Jeffrey Lewis and Jesse Gregory took fifth in 1:47.51.
Frostburg State returns for the third and final day of the CAC Championships tomorrow at 10:00 am for the preliminaries and later for the finals at 5:30 pm.
