FROSTBURG, Md. – Becky Randel scored two first half goals to power the Frostburg State field hockey team to a 3-1 non-conference win over the Wilson College Phoenix at Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats (3-8, 0-2) would take control of the game early as Randel, Frostburg’s leading scorer, notched her first goal of the game with just 11 minutes gone by in the first half. One minute later, Colby Wright banged home her third goal of the season to make the score 2-0 in favor of the home team.
Frostburg dominated the play in the first half as Wilson (4-3) would only attempt two shots on goal and had zero penalty corners. Randel would add her second goal of the contest in the 21st minute to give the Bobcats a commanding 3-0 lead heading into half time.
Wilson College’s offensive attack would pick up steam in the second half as they attempted 19 shots and Maggie Edwards made 14 saves, including stopping a penalty stroke by Whitney Hawkins. Hillary Swartz scored Wilson’s only goal midway through the second half on an assist from Jami DeVanie to make the score 3-1.
The win gave the Bobcats their second victory on their three-game homestand. The field hockey team hits the road to take on Christopher Newport on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
