Junior Alli Elliott powered the attack with four goals. She scored three times in the decisive first half as the Bobcats outshot the Vixens 28-6 for the contest.

Not to be overshadowed, Becky Randel added two goals and handed out three assists. She assisted on back-to-back goals of the first half and scored the game’s final goal in the 60th minute.

The Bobcats (1-0) scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of action and never looked back. The Bobcats later added three goals in the final 10 minutes of the opening stanza, two from Elliott, for a 6-0 cushion at the break.

The second half brought more of the same from the hosts as they tacked on three more goals for the 9-0 victory.

Junior Rachel Merritt, freshman Colby Wright and senior Chelsea Smith added goals as the Bobcats scored the most goals in a game since finding the net 11 times against Shenandoah in 2008.

Junior keeper Maggie Edwards needed just three saves to earn the shutout win. Sweet Briar netminder Madeline Wilson stopped six shots but allowed all nine goals in the loss.

FSU returns to the field on Saturday when it travels to Drew for a game at 12:00 pm.
