FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University women's lacrosse team used a pair of three-goal scoring runs in the second half for a 13-9 win over Marymount in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday at a chilly Bobcat Stadium.

The teams traded goals to open the second half, but the Bobcats (3-7, 2-2) collected their first 3-0 spurt and surged out to a 10-5 lead. The run lasted just 1:45 as freshmen
Katelyn Kesecker (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) and
Megan White (Delmar, Md./Wicomico) scored the first two goals within 33 seconds of one another. Junior
Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriots Ridge) added the third score on a free position attempt at 25:16.
Marymount scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 10-7, but the second 3-0 run by the Bobcats put the game squarely in their control. Kapustin scored her third goal of the game at 21:35 for an 11-7 lead. Sophomore
Chelsea Feeney (Damascus, Md./Damascus) found the net at 17:36 and Kesecker scored an unassisted goal at 10:44 as FSU used nearly 11 minutes for a 13-7 lead.
The Saints (3-6, 0-3) brought the final deficit to four, 13-9, with a pair of goals inside the final nine minutes of action.
The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie just prior to the midway point in the first half. Sophomore
Taylor Cassatt (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and freshman Brittany Miller (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) collected a goal each over a span of 1:44 as the hosts lead 4-2 with just 13:06 to play in the opening stanza.
Marymount answered with a pair of its own goals to knot the contest at 4-4 three minutes later, but Frostburg freshman
Malory Brunett (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) scored two late goals, the final with 1:35 left, to hand FSU a 6-4 lead at halftime.
Kapustin finished with three goals and one assist for her third-straight game with four or more points. Kesecker added four points of her own, behind two goals and two assists. Cassatt (two goals and one assist) and Feeney (one goal and two assists) each added three points. FSU keeper
Karoline Miller (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) made nine saves in the win.
The Bobcats finished with a 51.1 shooting percentage scoring13 goals on just 24 shots.
MU's Tancy Weatherford led all players with six points on four goals and two assists. She scored two goals and added an assist in each half of play. Lindsay Quinn had two goals and one assist as Marymount lost its fifth-straight game.
Frostburg State continues CAC action this Wednesday when it hosts Wesley at 4:00 pm.
