BUFFALO, NY. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team defeated Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent D'Youville, 9-0 on Sunday afternoon to extend its winning streak to five games and hand FSU its third match shutout.
FSU improved its overall record to 10-2 and continues to be perfect, 7-0, in AMCC play.
Four different Bobcats led the match by picking up two wins each on the day. In the No. 1 singles match, freshman
Elly Dannenfelser (Joppa, Md./John Carroll) defeated Melissa Kanalley 6-0, 6-0 for her first win of the day. Senior
Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) picked up one of her wins by defeating Ellen Remillard 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match. Freshman
Megan Martin (Richmond, Va./Mills Goodwin) won the No. 3 singles match by defeatinig Chelsea Ash 6-0, 6-1 for her first win of the day. Senior
Liz Coblentz (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) rounded out the two-match winners of the day by defeating Kaitlin Roland 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles match.
Sophomore
Jannil Sites (Waynesboro, Pa./James Buchanan) defeated Ali Mascioletti in the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 7-6 and classmate
Ashley Kuhns (Latrobe, Pa./Derry Area) defeated Jessica Collins 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles match.
Dannenfelser and Martin defeated Kanalley and Remillard 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles match for both of their second wins on the day. In the No. 2 doubles match, Shedd and Coblentz beat out Mascioletti and Roland 8-2 to finish out the Bobcat two-match winners. Senior
Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Sites defeated Collins and Ash 8-6 in the No. 3 doubles match to finish the perfect day for FSU.
