FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State field hockey team won against Goucher, 3-1, to remain undefeated at home, Saturday afternoon.

Frostburg State (5-2) struck early against Goucher (4-3) as junior
Breanne Russell (Clements, Md./Chopticon) netted her seventh goal of the season at 7:51 to put the Bobcats on the board, 1-0. The Bobcats continued to hold a one-point advantage over the Gophers going into the break.
A little over ten minutes into the second half, Goucher tied the game at 1-1 after Katie Gallagher scored a goal. Less than two minutes later, sophomore
Chelsea Smith (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) netted the game-winning goal to give the Bobcats a one-point advantage over the Gophers, 2-1.

Lindsey Frost (Columbia, Md./Hammond) scored the final goal of the game off an assist from freshman
Rachel Merritt (Pasadena, Md. / Chesapeake) to give the end score, 3-1.

Maggie Edwards (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) stopped two shots in the win while Goucher keeper Micki Manheimer had one save.
The Bocats led the Gophers in shots (9-3) and penalty corners (16-6).
Frostburg State is back on the field tomorrow Sunday, September 20 at home against Roanoke at noon.
