FROSTBURG, Md. – Jordan Warrington scored two goals and Erin Funkhouser added a goal and two assists as ninth ranked Lynchburg defeated the Frostburg State field hockey team, 4-1, Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats fall to 6-7 with the loss while the Hornets have won eight straight and move to 11-3 overall.
Lynchburg set the tone in the first half with two goals and a 10-0 advantage in shots. Funkhouser scored first in the 14th minute after collecting her own rebound and scoring past FSU keeper
Maggie Edwards (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional). Warrington then scored the first of her two goals a little over two minutes later off a feed from Funkhouser.
Just three minutes into the second half, Warrington scored her second goal of the game as Funkhouser and Jenny Weir combined on a double assist off a penalty corner.

Chelsea Smith (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) put the hosts on the scoreboard with her fourth goal of the season. She took a pass from freshman
Rachel Merritt (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake), moved in on Hornet keeper Sarah Cates and barried a shot into the side of the cage.
However, just 22 seconds later, Lynchburg's Jenny Weir added an insurance goal for a 4-1 lead. Deanna Smith was credited with the assist.
Lynchburg finished with a total of 23 shots while holding FSU to just two attempts in the second half.
Edwards made nine saves in the loss and allowed just four goals to a Lynchburg squad that came into the contest with a total of 25 goals in its three previous games. Cates made just one save to earn the victory.
Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when it travels to Stevenson at 1:00 pm.
