FROSTBURG, Md. – Junior
Sammy Stalter (La Plata, Md./La Plata) scored both goals for the Frostburg State field hockey team as it defeated Bridgewater College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Frostburg State (7-2) outshot Bridgewater (4-4) 11-3, giving the Bobcats a two-game winning streak.
Neither team would score until the 30th minute of the game when Stalter netted a goal off an assist from sophomore
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) for the only score of the half.
The Bobcats netted their second goal of the game just over one minute into the second half when Stalter scored again with another assist from Tapman.
Brianna Jacques ended the Bobcats hope of a shutout when she netted BC's only goal at the 55:28 mark to give the end score of 2-1.
FSU goalkeeper sophomore
Samantha Foland (Myersville, Md./Middletown) had two saves in the win while Bridgewater goalie Elizabeth Sullivan had seven in the loss.
Frostburg State returns to the field at Bobcat Stadium on October 1st against Juniata at 7:00 pm.
