WASHINGTON, Pa. – Frostburg State scored on its only shot of the match to end Washington & Jefferson's four-game winning streak as the Bobcats hung on for a 1-0 victory over the Presidents, Wednesday evening at Cameron Stadium.
FSU (6-2) did not attempt a shot for the first 44 minutes of the game, but junior forward
Sammy Stalter (La Plata, Md./La Plata) found the back of the net at the 44:28 mark off a pass from sophomore forward
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke).
The Bobcat defense took over from that point as FSU did not allow a W&J shot in the second half. The Presidents (4-1) attempted four first-half shots and took seven of the match's nine penalty corners, yet the Bobcat defense did not break.
Neither goalie was credited with a save during the match. FSU sophomore
Samantha Foland (Myersville, Md./Middletown) was the winning goalkeeper, while W&J freshman Roslynn Reynoso suffered the loss.
Frostburg State returns to action Saturday, September 20 at home to face Bridgewater at 5:00 pm.
