LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg scored four first-half goals including a pair from Allie Weir as it defeated Frostburg State 5-2 in field hockey, Saturday.
The loss drops the Bobcats to 8-3 overall on the season and ends their three-game winning streak. The Hornets are now 8-4 with their fifth-straight win.
LC scored the game's first four goals, but FSU answered with back-to-back tallies to cut the deficit to 4-2. Lynchburg capped the scoring with a goal at 62:55 to seal the win.
Weir put the hosts on the board just 3:52 into action with the game's first score off an assist from Erin Funkhouser. Six minutes later, Jordan Warrington extended the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal.
Weir struck again in the 20th minute with her 18th goal of the season and Caitlin Gibb found the net in the 32nd minute as Lynchburg held a 4-0 edge.

Breanne Russell (Clements, Md./Chopticon) scored for the Bobcats just before the half off a pass from classmate
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) as FSU trailed at the break 4-1.
Freshman
Sami Topolski (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) further cut into the Lynchburg lead at 53:48 as she scored off an assist from senior
Michelle Frost (Jessup, Md./Hammond).
Gibb sealed the victory for the Hornets as she netted her fifth goal of the season at 62:55.
FSU's
Samantha Foland (Myersville, Md./Middletown) made six saves while suffering just her third loss of the season.
Frostburg State travels to Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow for a game at 2:00 pm.
