FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week's Men's Soccer Player of the Week awards, presented by The Health Plan.
Frostburg State sophomore forward Nate Kennedy was selected as the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while graduate goalkeeper Josiah Emerson was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Kennedy aided in the Bobcats' ranked 2-1 win on Sept. 2 over No. 8 Bloomsburg. The forward earned both goals in the contest, tallying four total points. His second goal of the night netted the game-winning volley with just over eight minutes left in the game.
Emerson helped Frostburg remain unbeaten against its two ranked opponents in the week. He made one save against Bloomsburg, as the Huskies managed only two shots on target, then made a career-high eight saves in the Bobcats' 1-1 draw against No. 17 Davis & Elkins, including a penalty save that kept the match tied with five minutes left.
