PETERSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team wrapped up their spring break trip with a 4-1 victory over Virginia State on Thursday, finishing out their week 1-2.

Frostburg split the doubles competition, with the junior pairing of German Diaz and Cole Alcala taking No. 1 doubles in a 6-4 contest. Senior Cian Cabodevilla and graduate Nate Burkhardt competed in the No. 2 spot, dropping their doubles match 6-1. VSU forfeited the final doubles match, awarding the Bobcats the point.

Alcala picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles play, while sophomore Otto Hintermister showed a strong suit in his match with a 6-0, 6-0 outing. Junior Jason Haley fell in three sets in the No. 2 hole with a 6-3, 4-6, 5-7 final, as the Trojans ended up with a forfeit to round out singles competition, awarding FSU the 4-1 victory.

With the win, Frostburg moves to 2-5 on the year, while Virginia State drops to 0-4. The Bobcats next compete in their home opener on Wednesday, March 26 when the team hosts Charleston (WV) at 1 PM for their first MEC match of the season. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
