 MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The D2CCA All-Atlantic Region baseball teams and award winners were announced Wednesday with Frostburg State first baseman Ethan Kiple named player of the year and East Stroudsburg starting pitcher Brent Francisco voted pitcher of the year.Â
The D2CCA region teams are voted on by college sports communicators in the respective regions. The 16 members of the first team advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.Â
Kiple, the D2CCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year, is a three-time D2CCA All-Atlantic Region selection after earning second team honors the last two seasons as a utility player. The Mountain East Conference Player of the Year led Frostburg State to its first NCAA Atlantic Region appearance by hitting .385 with a 1.261 OPS. Kiple slugged 18 homers and 17 doubles while driving in 59 runs. Kiple also contributed on the mound, posting a 3.50 ERA in 14 appearances. Francisco, the D2CCA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year, led East Stroudsburg to its first PSAC East title and was named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year. Francisco led Division II with a 0.78 WHIP in 89 1/3 innings and posted a 1.91 ERA that ranked third in the country. Francisco also led the PSAC with 12 wins, tying for third in PSAC history.Â
Seven players repeated as members of the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region team. In addition to Kiple, Concord's Zack Saryeldin and Seton Hill's Jack Oberdorf are also three-time honorees. Saryeldin makes his second appearance on the first team. Oberdorf is a back-to-back first team selection at third base. Francisco was previously a first team starting pitcher in 2022. Millersville starting pitcher Carson Kulina was landed on the second team after earning first team honors in 2023. Wheeling's Braden Killens earned his second consecutive second team honor at third base. Frostburg State's Randy Steen was voted all-region as an outfielder after earning second team honors as a second baseman in 2023. Millersville led all teams with five all-region selections.Â
