MEC A&T Semifinal Preview: #2 Frostburg State vs #3 Glenville State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team sit at the No. 2 seed in the MEC Championships, traveling to face No. 3 seed Glenville State in the semifinals for the second consecutive year. 
 
How They Got Here
Frostburg enters the meet as the No. 8 team in the latest NCATA rankings, with an overall record of 5-2 and a conference record of 4-1.  The Bobcats two losses on the year came against two ranked opponents in No. 3 Gannon and No. 7 Fairmont State, as FSU did take down ranked opponent at the time, Hawaii Pacific. 
 
Glenville enters the championships with a 6-3 overall record, going 4-2 in the MEC.  Two of the Pioneers losses this season came against ranked opponents in conference rivals Fairmont State and Frostburg State.  
 
The Matchup
The Bobcats hold the all-time advantage over GSU taking four out of five contests.  Frostburg has won the last four meetings between the two teams, as Glenville took the first ever contest between the two programs in FSU's inaugural season.  The two teams faced off earlier in the season on Sunday, February 25, with the Bobcats coming out on top 265.905-255.385.  These two programs met on the first day of the MEC Championships last year as well as the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds, with FSU taking the meet 262.720-248.465.
 
The Athletes
As MEC awards were announced prior to the championships, senior Navah Marierose was honored as the MEC Specialist of the Year, also earning First Team All-MEC Honors.  Frostburg placed three other athletes on the all-conference teams, with seniors Abbie Baker and Laiken Spahr being recognized as First Team All-MEC, and senior Sydney Green being named Second Team All-MEC. 
 
GSU also had a trio of athletes receive First Team All-MEC honors in senior Madisyn Hahn, junior Payten Semenske, and sophomore Savannah Duckworth, as sophomore Emilia Underwood was selected as Second Team All-MEC. 
 
The Rest of the Field
The hosts and No. 1 seed Fairmont State will compete against No. 4 seed West Liberty in the other semifinal match, as the winners of each will face off in the Championship Meet on Saturday. 
 
Each team will compete in the Individual Event Finals for all qualifying heats, prior to the championship, as Frostburg leads the way qualifying for 14 out of 15 heats.  Fairmont State and Glenville will compete in 13 and 11 heats, as West Liberty qualified for five heats and Notre Dame College qualified for two.
