Marierose Named MEC Specialist of the Year, Four Earn All-MEC Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior Navah Marierose was named Mountain East Conference Acrobatics & Tumbling Specialist of the Year, along with three other athletes being named to all-conference teams.  All awards were announced today before the start of the 2024 MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Championships held in Fairmont on Friday and Saturday. 
 
Marierose, a base/tumbler First Team All-MEC honoree as well, received one MEC Athlete of the Week selection, competing in all compulsory heats, acro heat two and three, all pyramid heats, toss heat one and two, heat three in the tumbling event, as well as the team event, all throughout the majority of the season.  Marierose helped lead the Bobcats to 14 scores of 9.75 or higher in the pyramid heats. 
 
FSU tied for first in the conference with three First Team All-MEC selections, with senior top/tumbler Abbie Baker and senior base/tumbler Laiken Spahr receiving the honors as well, both earning a MEC Athlete of the Week honor throughout the season and both capturing All-MEC honors all four years in the program.  Senior top/tumbler Sydney Green was named Second Team All-MEC, being a part of the compulsory pyramid that scored a perfect 10 in 2024, as well as competing in the aerial and six element tumbling passes.
