SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The sixth-ranked Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling won their season opener over Notre Dame (Ohio) by a final of 259.545-233.685.

Picking up right where they left off from last season's NCATA National Championships appearance, FSU began the meet with a 37.60 score in the compulsory event to NDC's 31.95. The Bobcats won each of the four heats, including scores of 9.65 and above in each of the acro, pyramid, and toss heats.

In the acro event, Frostburg started out hot in the 5-element with a 9.60 from a 9.95 starting value, eventually leading to a 26.50-21.90 advantage in the event score. With one event until halftime, FSU took one of their biggest strengths of last season, the pyramid event, with a 28.40 to the Falcons' 24.85. The synchronized heat produced the biggest score for the Bobcats, earning a 9.75 out of 10. At the half, Frostburg held a double-digit advantage at 92.50-78.70.

Continuing the trend of event victories, FSU took the toss by 27.80-23.55, with the open heat producing a 9.60 out of a possible 9.90. Notre Dame showed some mettle, as they were able to take two of the first three tumbling passes, outscoring the Bobcats until Frostburg turned it around in the individual heats, paving the way to a 49.425-46.625 event win. Seniors Laiken Spahr (9.225), Sydney Green (9.475), and Abbie Baker (9.725) all had impressive performances in helping keep a strong lead going into the team event.

As each team concluded their meet with the final event, FSU made it a perfect six-for-six on the day, winning 89.82-84.81 for a 259.545-233.685 score line.

With the victory, Frostburg begins the year 1-0, while Notre Dame starts out 0-1. FSU next has their home opener on Saturday, February 17 to face No. 4 Gannon at 2 p.m. in Bobcat Arena. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
