FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team earned the top seed and the right to host the MEC Championships, where they will face No. 4 seed Glenville State on Friday at Bobcat Arena.

How They Got Here
The Bobcats enter the meet as the No. 6Â team in the latest NCATA rankings, sporting an 8-2 record, including a perfect 5-0 record in the conference. The only two losses this season came against No. 1 Baylor and No. 4 Quinnipiac, while they have defeated three different ranked teams themselves. Head Coach Katie Nunley was named the MEC Coach of the Year for the second season in a row for the team's efforts this year.Â

GSU comes in with a 5-3 record, going 2-3 in the MEC. The Pioneers lost two of their opening three meets of the season before winning four midseason meets in a row to clinch their spot in the MEC tournament. All three of their losses have been to ranked opponents.Â

The Matchup
FSU holds the all-time advantage with a 2-1 record over Glenville, having won the past two meets after losing the first matchup in the program's inaugural season. This year's matchup was the closest in the series, with Frostburg narrowly winning 258.670-257.415 as the meeet came down to the team event in the end.Â

The Athletes
As the annual MEC individual awards were announced, the Bobcats saw junior Abbie Baker named Athlete of the Year and freshman Isabella Mongelluzzo earn the conference's Freshman of the Year. Both athletes were also First Team All-MEC honorees, where they were joined by juniors Navah Marierose and Laiken Spahr, while junior Kaitlin Bolton earned a spot on the Second Team.Â

The Pioneers had a pair of First Team All-MEC athletes in Savannah Duckworth and Madisyn Hahn, as three athletes were also named to the Second Team in Mackenzie Bathe, Ashton Lowe, and Abigail McDermott.Â

The Rest of the Field
Second-seeded Fairmont State will face off against three seed West Liberty in the other semifinal matchup, with the winners of each meet set to face each other in Saturday's Championship Meet.Â
