FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team defeated Glenville State in their MEC Semifinal matchup on Friday night by a score of 262.720-248.465.

FSU got out to an early lead in the compulsory event, winning 36.60-33.85, scoring high marks in the pyramid (9.675) and toss (9.825) heats. GSU also saw their highest scores in those heats at 9.50 and 9.65, respectively.

The Bobcats also took the acro event by a 28.075-26.65 advantage. The 5-element (9.625) and 7-element (9.50) were Frostburg's strong points, while Glenville scored highest in the latter at 9.00.

In the pyramid event, FSU won 28.925-28.000 no lower than a 9.525, which was their scores in both of the first two heats, while tacking on an astounding 9.875 in the open heat. The Pioneers scored at least a 9.10 in each heat, topping out at 9.55 in the open heat.

Coming out of the half, Frostburg pushed their lead with a 28.025-27.275 win in the toss event, posting scores of 9.15 in both the 450 Salto and synchronized heats, then topping it off with a 9.725 in the open heat. GSU scored a high of 9.425 in the 450 Salto toss.

The Bobcats won yet another event in tumbling by a score of 54.075-47.850, impressing in all of the individual passes with tallies of 9.425, 9.525, and 9.725 across the Aerial, 6-Element, and Open passes, respectively. Glenville's best score was in the 6-Element pass at 8.975.

Holding a 12-point advantage going into the team event, FSU completed the sweep of the events, winning 87.02-84.84 for the final 262.720-248.465 victory.

With the win, Frostburg improves to 9-2 overall, while GSU ends their season at 5-4. The Bobcats advance to the MEC Championship Meet on Saturday, April 15 against Fairmont State at 3 p.m. Individual event finals will precede the meet at 11 a.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
