BALTIMORE, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Lacrosse team secured a late, dramatic 11-10 victory over Saint Rose at Homewood Field on Wednesday evening.Â

Graduate Mitch Meckley started the game thwarting everything that the Golden Knights threw his way, saving three shots in the first two minutes. FSU finally got some pressure that paid off when senior Bubba Love found the back of the net two and a half minutes in. Despite losing another faceoff, the Bobcat defense again came back strong, allowing senior Jake Bowman to score on a feed from junior Cole Blanche to go up 2-0.Â

Frostburg rode their luck a bit as Saint Rose looked for their opener, with Meckley making another pair of saves and the post coming to FSU's rescue. Junior Austin Sipes found the Bobcats' third goal on an assist by Bowman, then with a last-second shot, Bowman scored his second of the game to put Frostburg up 4-0 at the end of the first.Â

The Golden Knights found their foothold in the game three minutes into the second period to get on the board. Frostburg responded with a goal from senior Chase Buckwalter for a 5-1 lead. Saint Rose responded scoring 20 seconds later and then again off a Frostburg turnover to make the game 5-3 with 9:33 to play left in the second. With momentum on their side the Golden Knights would tie the game at 5-5 with just over five to go in the quarter. The game would go to half tied.Â

Saint Rose would strike first in the third taking their first lead of the game at 6-5. Bowman would find the net again to even things at 6-6 just under the 12-minute mark. The Golden Knights would respond retaking the lead on the next trip down the field. FSU would capitalize on a man-up chance when Sipes would find Bowman to make the game 7-7. FSU would turn on the pressure in the back half of the third eventually breaking through on a goal and lead from senior Justin Hulse.

The final quarter would start with the teams exchanging early goals. Love would make the game 9-8 with Sipes picking up another assist. FSU would fight off an extra man opportunity for the Golden Knights and then add a goal from Love making the score 10-8 FSU. Saint Rose would not go away scoring twice to tie things at 10-10. The Bobcats would close out the game with junior Tyler Dooley scoring the game winner in a man-up situation with a minute to play.Â

The win makes the Bobcats 1-0 and moves Saint Rose to 0-2 on the season. FSU will play again when they travel to face Lake Erie on Saturday the 25
