FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team fell to Ashland in their Saturday afternoon meet by a score of 139-123.
Despite Ashland taking the win in the 400-Meter Medley Relay, Frostburg took second (4:06.60) and third place (4:12.71), earning FSU six total team points.
Just two events later, junior Nate Canapp was victorious in the 800-Meter Freestyle (8:52.79) followed by freshman Jack Bond (9:03.43) awarding FSU 13 points. Canapp was also awarded first place in the 400 Meter freestyle swimming a 4:19.45, then placed second in the 200-Meter IM (2:17.33).
Freshman Abe Bias took nearly two seconds off of his previous best in the 200 Meter Freestyle, going from 2:04.54 to 2:02.67. During the 100 Meter Freestyle, senior Noah Loper finished runner-up at 55.07 .
Senior Jackson Miller (1:05.47) and sophomores Josh Horner (1:05.58), and Julian Najarro Sedar (1:05.79) took third, fourth, and fifth, respectively in the 100 Meter Backstroke, adding six team points.
In the 100-meter breaststroke, senior PJ Emrich and Luka Smith took second (1:09.09) and third (1:09.89), respectively, combining for seven team points. Emrich had a win of his own in the 200 Meter Breast with a time of 2:33.32.
Taking first and second place in the 100 Meter Butterfly was Najarro Sedar and freshman Dylan King, as the former swam a (59.34) followed by the latter's (59.66).
With the loss, the men fall to an overall record of 4-1, while Ashland improves to 1-4. Frostburg returns to the pool on the weekend of November 17-19 as they swim in the Franklin and Marshall Invite in Lancaster, Pa. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
