Women's Swimming Takes First in Every Event with Victory Over Fairmont State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team continued their strong start to the season with a 208-49 victory at home over Fairmont State Saturday afternoon, taking first place in each race swam.
 
The Bobcats came out of the gate on the front foot, as both their A and B 200-meter relay teams finished ahead of the Fighting Falcons. Sophomore Gabriela Betancourt, freshman Gabriella Douglas, and juniors Kendall Hooper and Natasha Paciello took the win in 2:06.89, while junior Alexis Council was joined by freshmen Jayme Meadowns, Alexis Ramsey, and Rachel Rickabuagh just behind in 2:14.13.
 
Meadows (2:18.54), Rickabaugh (2:19.55), and junior Amaya Burke (2:24.96) went on to take the first three spots in the 200-meter freestyle, while Douglas took first in the 50-meter free at 28.49. Paciello earned a pair of individual wins, placing first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:20.37), just ahead of senior Maree Dieterich (1:23.41), then being victorious in the 200-meter breast at 2:58.82.
 
Junior Lydia Nebiolo had a standout meet, winning the 800-meter free in 9:43.93, then doing the same in the 100-meter backstroke (1:10.24), as Betancourt finished second at 1:10.95. Junior Kendall Hooper kept the Bobcat wins coming, winning the 200-meter butterfly in 2:34.55, followed up by freshman Morgan Greenlee (2:35.64) and Ramsey (2:39.87) in second and third, respectively. Hooper went on to win the 200-meter IM in 2:34.09, with Ramsey (2:41.04) and Betancourt (2:43.49) just behind.
 
Senior Liz Perry (1:10.84) went 1-2 with Greenlee (1:13.55) in the 100-meter fly, with Rickabaugh (4:55.98) and juniors Tiernan Taggart (4:58.09) and Amanda Soustek (5:02.65) going 1-2-3 in the 400-meter free.
 
Burke, Meadows, Hooper, and Perry (4:13.35) concluded the meet with a win in the 400-meter free relay, with Rickabaugh, Taggart, Greenlee, and Nebiolo taking second in 4:21.73.
 
With the win, the women improve to 5-0 on the year, while Fairmont falls to 0-3. Frostburg returns to Bobcat Natatorium on Saturday, November 11 to face Ashland at 2 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
