KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the season on the road Saturday afternoon against Kutztown, taking the match 6-1.
In doubles play, FSU began in great form, as the top pairing of freshmen Mariaspa Kotsiou and Alyssa Kush cruised to a 6-3 victory. They were followed up by convincing wins from sophomore Lorena Pintar and senior Rabi Ladan (6-0) and senior Betsy Hixson and sophomore Sydney Goering (6-1) to sweep the doubles matches.
The Bobcats continued their dominance in singles play, as Kush (6-1, 6-2), Pintar (6-1, 6-1), Kotsiou (6-1, 6-0), and Hixson (6-2, 6-1) all recorded singles victories as well. Senior Jen Dieterle capped off the match with a 6-4, 6-0 victory for the final 6-1 match score.
With the victory, Frostburg moves to 1-1 and Kutztown drops to 2-3. The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 8 at home where they will face Shepherd. For more information on Frostburg athletics, visit
