CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team traveled to North Carolina to take on #2 Tampa in a 16-6 loss on Saturday afternoon.
In the first quarter, it would be all Tampa, where the Bobcats would get some chances, but the Spartans ended the first quarter with a 5-0 lead.
In the second quarter, the Spartans would start off strong, extending their lead to 7-0, however the Bobcats would answer back with goal from senior Matthew Ward. Tampa would add two more goals to their score before senior Jake Bowman got a goal back, along with another goal from Ward to bring the halftime score to 9-3.
In the third quarter, the Bobcats would come out strong with a nice goal from junior Bubba Love. Tampa would then go on a four-goal streak before the Bobcats answered back with a goal from senior Ty Oehlerking. Tampa would get one more goal at the last second of the third, making it 14-5 in favor of the Spartans.
In the fourth quarter, Tampa would continue their goal streak, but the Bobcats would end it with another goal from Bowman. The Spartans would add another goal to end the scoring at 16-6.
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 0-2 while the Spartans rise to 4-0 on the season. FSU's next contest will be on the road at Walsh (Ohio) on Saturday, March 12 at 1 PM. For more information and updates, visit www.frostburgsports.com.
