FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team hosted a tri-meet against Alderson Broaddus and Fairmont State on Sunday afternoon. Falling to Fairmont in narrow contest.
The first event was the compulsory event made up of set skills each team must demonstrate. It is made up of a heat for acro, pyramid, toss and tumbling. After the scores were tallied for the event, the Bobcats had 35.8 points out of a possible 40. Fairmont led with 36.05 with AB having 23.5.
The acro event saw the Bobcats score the highest total of the three teams. Frostburg had a 9.75 out of 10 in the third heat to take them to a 28.05 total. AB picked up 19.95 points and the Falcons received 24.85 out of 29.75.
The last event before the half was the pyramid. The scores for AB, Fairmont and Frostburg came in at 22.9, 27.2 and 26.9, respectively. Going into the half, the Bobcats let the meet with a total score of 90.75. Fairmont was a close second with 88.1, and AB totaled 66.0.
The teams came out from the half to compete in the toss event. FSU scored an impressive 9.05 out of 9.40 in the open heat. Overall, the Bobcats scored 24.80, with the Fighting Falcons bringing in 25.6 and AB adding 19.70 to their total.
Frostburg and Fairmont would go into the tumbling event separated by less than two points. AB scored a total of 38.2 points, making their total for the afternoon 123.9 after opting out of the team event. Frostburg and Fairmont both had big individual scores, with the Falcons earning 9.625 and Frostburg scoring a 9.475. The Falcons scored 50.725 points and the Bobcats totaled 50.925.
With Frostburg having 166.475 and Fairmont at 164.425, the team event would decide the day. Fairmont had a clean team event, scoring 87.9 for a total of 252.325. Frostburg scored 82.57, making their total 249.045 to finish the meet with the narrow loss to the Falcons.
With the split, the Bobcats now stand at 2-2 on the year, while AB is now 0-4 and Fairmont is 3-1. Frostburg returns to action Sunday, March 13 when they host Glenville and Quinnipiac for another tri-meet. For more updates and information visit frostburgsports.com.
