FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team competed in their first home meet at Bobcat Natatorium, falling to powerhouse Division III opponent Mary Washington 167-94.
Sophomore Kendall Hooper led the Bobcat charge with a pair of victories in the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events with times of 1:06.79 and 2:31.04, respectively. Junior Liz Perry had a busy day, picking up a win in the 100-meter freestyle (1:03.15), then finishing second behind Hooper in the 100 fly (1:11.88) and also earning second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:13.40).
Joining them in the win column was sophomore Lydia Nebiolo, who won the 1,500 free (19:33.50) and came second in the 400 free (5:00.02), then freshman Gabriela Betancourt took first in the 200 back (2:31.42) and second in the 200 free (2:20.18).
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 2-3 on the year, while UMW improves to 6-1. The Bobcats return to the pool on Friday, December 1 for a two-day stint at the Randolph-Macon Invitational in Virginia. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
