GAME NOTES
-LAST TIME OUT FOR FSUÂ Â
-Frostburg State suffered another loss after an unconventional week saw their Saturday contest moved to a Thursday night after Hurricane Ian impacted the area surrounding UNC Pembroke. The Braves would secure a 10-9 victory on the short week for both teams. UNCP would find themselves up 10-0 midway through the second quarter, but late before the half the Bobcats would get a touchdown pass off from sophomore QB Isaiah Lester to redshirt freshman WR Jordan Marcucci to cut the deficit to 10-7 at the half. Both teams would continue to trade possessions through the high winds with storms on the way, causing passing and kicking to become difficult. The Bobcats would pin UNCP deep in their own territory in the third quarter and bring the rush to put a safety on the board, making it 10-9. Late in the fourth quarter, FSU would once again find themselves with the ball attempting to win the game on a final drive. The Bobcats would call on junior K/P Dayne Koontz to kick a 47 yard field goal into the strong winds, but unfortunately the kick could not overcome the elements and the Braves would hold on to secure the victory.Â
-SCOUTING THE FALCONSÂ Â
-The Falcons continue to roll along in MEC play, after a 49-24 victory at home over Charleston (WV) last Saturday. At the end of the first quarter, things looked close with a 14-10 slight advantage for NDC. The Falcons would begin to create separation by racking up 21 points over the next two quaters while hold UCWV scoreless, to be up 35-10 at the end of the third. Both teams would combine for 28 points in the final quarter, but NDC would close out the contest and remain the lone undefeated team in conference play in the MEC.
-NOTRE DAME COLLEGE HEAD COACHÂ
-As has been the trend of the MEC this season, NDC features Garrett Mack in his first season as the Head Coach of the Falcons. Mack joined the Notre Dame staff in 2020, holding multiple positions of run game coordinator, defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for the program before his promotion in February 2022. Before his stint in Division II, he would spend time with Oberlin College in 2017 and 2019 working with the linebackers and as the wide receivers/strength coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2018.Â
