FAIRMONT, W. Va. - Frostburg State Football, the reigning Mountain East Conference Co-Champions have been selected as the preseason favorite for the 2026 season following a vote of league head coaches.
The Bobcats finished the 2025 season 11-3, concluding at the NCAA DII Football Championship Quarterfinals, tying program records for both wins and farthest run in a national tournament. In the year-end polls, Frostburg earned a ranking of No. 14 by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and 20th by D2football.com. The Bobcats led the MEC in scoring defense, allowing only 21.3 points per game, while also topping the league with 27 sacks and 15 interceptions.
FSU will open their season on the road against Shepherd on Saturday, September 5 at 1 PM, with their conference slate beginning at West Liberty on Saturday, September 19 at 1 PM.
