Men's Soccer Loses at Home on Youth Soccer Day

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Soccer team hosted Notre Dame (Ohio) in a 3-0 loss at home on Sunday afternoon.

During the game, FSU hosted its first annual Youth Soccer Day, featuring local youth teams around the region, some of who were able to walk out with the team during introductory lineups.

The Falcons came out firing early on in the match, getting the first shot of the game, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Bobcats would work to earn their first corner of the match, looking to capitalize on the set piece in the seventh minute of the match, though nothing came of it. Notre Dame went on to control the majority of the possession in the first half, but the Bobcat defense didn't give away many clear-cut opportunities. Freshman Danny Caparotti would provide the Bobcats with their two best scoring opportunities in the first half, powering past the Falcon defense but not quite able to find a finish on either occasion to keep the game scoreless. NDC went on to find the back of the net in the 39th minute to make the score 1-0 going into halftime.

Bobcat sophomore Brennan Moore made a great save to open the second half, holding the score at 1-0 Falcons. Notre Dame continued their strong effort, finding the back of the net for a second goal in the 51st minute to make the score 2-0. The game would intensify as the second half went on with the Bobcats pushing to score their first goal of the match. Freshman Carlos Quintero Rivas would lead the charge for the Bobcats in the second half, firing off two shots at the Falcon goalkeeper, who made a pair of saves to keep the shutout going. Notre Dame would go on to increase their lead to 3-0 in the 74th minute, which would be the last true opportunity of the game.

With Sunday's loss, Frostburg moves to 3-7-5 on the year, while Notre Dame moves to 11-3-1. FSU will return to action on Wednesday, October 19 as they travel to Alderson Broaddus for a 7:30 PM kickoff. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
