Swimming Sweeps West Virginia Wesleyan

BUCKHANNON, W. Va.- The Frostburg State Men's and Women's Swimming teams traveled to West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday afternoon, with both teams emerging victorious in their first meet of 2022.
 
Freshman Lydia Nebiolo continued her fine start to her Bobcat career with individual victories in the 200, 50, and 500-yard freestyle events. She also picked up a team victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay with freshman Amaya Burke and sophomores Francesca Crevoiserat and Liz Perry. Burke would add a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, while Perry helped FSU to a 1-2 placement in the 100-yard butterfly, picking up the win with senior Aubree Morris getting second.
 
Also impressing for the women was freshman Kendall Hooper, who earned victories in the 200-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle. Sophomore Cali Kobasiar also won a pair of events, going 1-2 in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events with freshman Natasha Paciello. Rounding out the women's team's day was sophomore Summer Mastandrea combining with freshman Madison Kauffman to get first and second place, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
 
On the men's side, multiple swimmers earned multiple victories in events, with sophomore Noah Loper leading the way with three individual wins, in the 100, 200, and 500-yard freestyle. He also combined with freshman Steven Wilfing, sophomore Jackson Miller, and junior Quincy Page to finish first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
Miller added wins in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke, helping Frostburg to a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 with sophomore PJ Emrich and Page. Emrich also earned wins in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard IM, with FSU sweeping the 100 fly, as freshman Jaden Tipton and sophomore Mason Lewis finished second and third, respectively.
 
Frostburg earned another sweep in the 200-yard breaststroke, as freshmen Luka Smith, Sean O'Conner, and Tave Chanthavong went 1-2-3 in the event. Chanthavong and Smith also finished 1-2 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Nate Canapp also had a pair of 1-2 finishes with junior Myles Henderson in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Emrich in the 200 IM. Sophomore Justin Geiszler rounded out the day with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly.
 
With the wins, the men improve to 4-1 and the women 5-1 overall. Both teams return to the pool on Friday, January 21, where they will host Fairmont State at 5 p.m. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
