FROSTBURG, Md.- Frostburg State Women's Soccer fell in their home opener 2-0 against Concord on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The game started out even, as both sides had early opportunities on goal, with Leah Foster looking dangerous for the Mountain Lions. It would be her fellow forward Yasmin Mosby however, that got the scoring started with a mazy run through the FSU defense and finishing past sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Bilger for a 1-0 lead.
Â
Senior Audra Curtin had an opportunity to equalize just a few minutes later as she was played in on goal but took the shot with the outside of her right foot straight at Leah Marsh. Concord would end the half outshooting FSU four to zero but weren't able to add on to their lead.
Â
Frostburg would start the second half hungry for a goal. The closest they would come in the game was off a 30-yard rocket from freshman Catherine Smith, which was tipped onto the crossbar on a fine save from Marsh. Sophomore Hannah Thompson had another shot on goal, but again FSU was denied by Marsh.
Â
The next shot on goal would prove to be the last score in the game, as Foster was played through by Mosby and coolly finished into the right upper-90 with her left foot. CU would continue to pepper to the Bobcat goal with shots, and almost had a third if not for a fine save from Bilger to tip a shot from Jasmine Daily onto the post. FSU would put pressure on Concord over the last five minutes, but still couldn't breach Marsh's goal as the game ended 2-0.
Â
The loss drops FSU to 1-2 on the year, while Concord improves to 3-0. The Bobcats are next in action Wednesday, September 15 as they head on the road to face Alderson Broaddus, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. For more information and updates stay tuned on
