FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team tied the Alderson Broaddus Battlers Friday evening 1-1 after a scoreless double overtime. First-year Toni Fiocco-Mizer headed in the Bobcat goal.

The draw puts FSU at 2-0-1 on the season while the Battlers are now 0-0-1.

Frostburg started the game applying pressure and taking the first four shots of the game. Sophomore Marley Copes had back-to-back shot that were saved by the Battlers keeper. Alderson Broaddus got on the board first on a goal by Gwen Sherwood.Â

Junior Mina Del Borrello came up big for the Bobcats clearing the ball off the line to keep FSU down by only one goal. Frostburg then shifted momentum to their side and was able to capitalize on an awarded corner. Fiocco-Mizer evened up the score on an unmarked header at the back post from a corner kick assist from first-year Lela Clark. The Bobcats went into half with the game tied at one.

The second half looked similar to the first with the Bobcats leading in shoots (17) and corners (2). Junior Mackenzie Folch had a timely tackle at the top of the box to stop the Battlers from a goal. The Bobcats continued to apply pressure throughout the half. Regulation ended with a one to one tie.

In the first overtime Fiocco-Mizer had a chance to put the Battlers away with header that was saved by the keeper. The second overtime was filled with quality shots on goal, but the Bobcats were not able to put the Battlers away. The final score for the game was even at one.
