FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State women's basketball came up short at home to West Virginia State 113-81. The Bobcats were led by a pair of double-doubles from juniors Morgan Dombroski and Drew Dunathan. Dombroski scored 30 points to go with 10 rebounds, while Dunathan had 10 and 11 respectively. Frostburg falls to 2-7 and West Virginia State moves to 5-4 on the season.
After giving up a pair of buckets to the Yellow Jackets, Dunathan started the Bobcats off with a layup 2:07 into the game. Sophomore Arianna Briggs-Hall scored on a layup to cut the lead to six at the 4:17 mark. Dombroski knocked down a pair of free throws to end the first quarter with FSU down 31-23.
FSU's Briggs-Hall had two layups early in the second quarter to pull the Bobcats within six. Sophomore Ciara Thomas made a pair of free throws with two minuets remaining in the second quarter for her first points of the game. The Bobcats finished the half down 59-42.
Dombroski scored a two-pointer to kick off the third quarter on an assist from Thomas. First-year Rhiana Hall made a pair of free throws from the line after being fouled driving to the basket. With 1:19 left on the clock in the third quarter, Dombroski hit a three pointer to make the score 61-85.
The Bobcats kicked off the fourth quarter down 89-63 until Dunathan made both her free throws for the team's first points. Dombroski made another three-pointer with 6:47 on the clock to make the score 97-72. Rhiana Hall made the last basket of the game, ending the night's score at 113-81.
FSU will be home again Monday night to face the Glenville State Pioneers. Tipoff is set for 5:00 pm. For more information go to
