FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team lost its final game in Bobcat Arena to the Wheeling Cardinals by a score of 90-75. Graduate Canaan Bartley led the Bobcats with 20 points, seven rebounds, and one assist while senior Jihar Williams also recorded 20 points with four rebounds.

The loss puts Frostburg at 4-11 on the season while the Cardinals move to 5-10.

Frostburg found themselves down by four at 22-18 after a jump shot from Williams and a layup from junior Bo Schene halfway through the first half. A jump shot from Bartley started a 11-2 scoring run which also featured a three-pointer from junior Jamil Jones and was capped off with a Bartley three-pointer of his own to take a 33-32 lead with five minutes in the first half.

The Cardinals went on an 12-2 scoring run to finish the first half and took a 44-35 lead into halftime.

Bartley started the scoring in the second half with a jump shot to put the Bobcats down seven at 44-37. Two free throws from junior Agyei Edwards had Frostburg down six at 57-51 with 10:37 to play in the half. A Bartley three-pointer followed by a layup from Edwards put FSU down five at 67-62 with six minutes remaining in the game.

The Bobcats began to claw their way back after a three-pointer from Williams started an 8-2 scoring run which also included a three-pointer and two free throws made by Schene to bring FSU within one at 71-70 with five minutes in the game. The Cardinals would outscore the Bobcats 19-5 in the last five minutes of the game to capture the win 90-75.

Schene finished the night with nine points and three rebounds while Edwards recorded seven points with six rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Jaylon Johnson contributed seven points with five rebounds and two assists for the Bobcats.
