FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Frostburg men's basketball team lost their final game of the season on the road Saturday evening against the Fairmont State Falcons with a final score of 109-85. Junior Agyei Edwards led the Bobcats with 29 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
The Bobcats record falls to 4-12 on the season while the Falcons move to 12-4.
A three-pointer from senior Desmond Rene started the scoring for the Bobcats which was followed by a three-pointer from junior Agyei Edwards to put FSU down two at 8-6. Edwards hit another three-pointer at 12:27 in the first half to bring Frostburg within eight at 22-14.
Sophomore Jaylon Johnson hit a layup to stop a 20-0 scoring run by the host making it 41-16 with five minutes left in the half. Edwards hit a layup followed by two free throws sending the Bobcats in to halftime down 52-25.
Sophomore Marcellus Carroll started the scoring in the second half with a jump shot. This was followed with a jumper from graduate Canaan Bartley and three-pointer from Johnson to make the score 60-32. Edwards hit a jumper at 10:59 to make the score 76-46.
Bartley converted on a layup before being fouled and sent to the line where he made the free shot completing a three-point play to make the score 91-61 with 5:37 remaining. Moments later, senior Sean Patterson was sent to the line to shoot two free throws making them both to make it 91-64.
First-year Sean Brown Jr. hit a layup at 3:29 to make the score 99-69. First-year Jaylin Albury hit a layup with two minutes left in the game to make it 101-75. Senior Jihar Williams hit a three-pointer to bring it to 103-78. Junior Bo Schene hit a layup with 48 seconds remaining followed by a layup from Carroll to make it 109-83 with 35 seconds left. Edwards scored the final points for the Bobcats bringing the final score to 109-85.
Bartley Finished the night with 11 points and five rebounds while Carroll had nine points with three rebounds for Frostburg.
