Frostburg Women Fall at Home to West Liberty

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team fell short at home against the West Liberty Hilltoppers with a final score of 90-62. The Bobcats were led by sophomores Ciara Thomas and Ariana Biggs-Hall with 19 and 15 points respectively and one assist by Briggs-Hall. FSU drops to 2-10 and West Liberty moves to 7-7.
 
Briggs-Hall opened the scoring for the Bobcats in the first quarter with a good basket from the free throw line. Junior Morgan Dombroski landed a shot with six seconds left in the first quarter, having FSU trailing only five points from the Hilltoppers with a score of 26-21. Dombroski opened the scoring for the Bobcats in the second quarter at the 7:42 mark with a good free throw. Frostburg gave up six points to West Liberty before first year Brenae Ford landed a good jumper. Briggs-Hall ended the scoring for the first half making the score 46-34.
 
FSU opened the third quarter strong with a layup from Briggs-Hall 29 seconds in. It was a back and forth scoring battle between the Bobcats and the Hilltoppers. First year Niya Moore-Harris landed a good three pointer followed by a jumper later in the quarter for Frostburg making the score 63-48. Ford ended the scoring for the Bobcats with two seconds left into the quarter making the score 71-50 to go into the final quarter of play.
 
Frostburg struggled to score in the opening of the fourth. Dombroski woke the Bobcats up at the 7:54 mark with a pair of good free throws from the line 71-52. Thomas landed three shots from the free throw line, along with four other points for Frostburg making the score 84-59. Dombroski ended the scoring with a free throw 41 seconds left in the game with a finishing score of 90-62 West Liberty.
