FROSTBURG, Md. -  The Frostburg State women's basketball team fell to Shepherd on the final day of the Jim Crawley Conference Challenge. The Bobcats' hard-fought battle came up short with a strong fourth quarter by the Rams, as they won 72-60.

SU jumped out to a quick lead before a three-pointer from junior Maggie Sharp pulled the Bobcats within one point. The Rams had the lead most of the first quarter until back-to-back buckets from senior Shelby Funchess made the score 19-18. The quarter ended with a made free throw from senior Morgan Dombroski to put FSU up 25-20.

Funchess continued her good play to start the second quarter, getting an early layup. Frostburg stretched its lead out on a three-pointer made by freshman Olivia Smith with three minutes to play in the second, as the first half ended with the Bobcats up 41-37.

The third quarter opened with junior Ciara Thomas getting two points in the paint. Midway through the quarter, a bucket from Funchess tied the game up at 47-47. Scoring continued to go back and forth the rest of the way, with the score tied at 57-57 going into the fourth.

Junior Arianna Briggs-Hall scored the only points for Frostburg in the final quarter of the game, as the Rams outscored FSU 15-3 to spoil three well played quarters by the Bobcats.
