LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Frostburg State women's basketball team traveled to Lock Haven to take on the Bald Eagles in a tight loss, 63-56 on Tuesday evening.
Junior Arianna Briggs-Hall got the Bobcats out to a strong start, as Frostburg led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. LHU would come out hot in the second quarter, scoring the first seven points to take a 19-15 lead, which kept their momentum going into the half with a 33-28 lead.
FSU was only able to keep pace in the third quarter, as Lock Haven led 52-45 going into the final quarter.
Both teams struggled offensively, each scoring 11 points in the fourth as the Bald Eagles kept hold of their lead and took the win 63-56.
Junior Maggie Sharp kept FSU in the game on several occasions with clutch buckets, on her way to leading all scorers with 20 points. Senior guard Morgan Dombroski would lead the team in assists with five and steals with two. Briggs-Hall helped FSU to a 43-31 advantage in rebounding with 10, but LHU featured a spread-out scoring attack with four players in double figures to nullify the advantages Frostburg had.
With the loss, FSU falls to 0-3 on the year, while Lock Haven opens their season with a win to go 1-0. The Bobcats next face West Virginia Wesleyan on the road in their Mountain East opener on Saturday, November 20 at 2 PM. For more information and updates, visit
