WACO, TEX.– Frostburg State Football moved up in the AFCA rankings this week, coming in at No. 20, their highest ranking at the Division II level.
Ferris State (Mich.) still sits at No. 1, but with No. 2 Valdosta State's 36-34 win over then-No. 3 West Georgia, the rest of the top-five is new. Following California (Pa.) is No. 4 West Florida and No. 5 Ouachita Baptist (Ark.). California (Pa.) and West Florida get to test their new rankings as both play top-25 opponents on Saturday. The Vulcans face No. 15 Slippery Rock (Pa.) while the Argonauts travel to newly ranked and No. 23 West Alabama.
Another new team to the poll is No. 24 New Haven (Conn.). The Chargers beat Assumption (Mass.), 16-10, to move their record to 7-1 and enter the poll for the first time since December 17, 2018. They will host No. 9 Bentley (Mass.) with first place in the Northeast-10 on the line.
