Rodriguez's Late Goal Fuels Win over Battlers

FROSTBURG, MD- The Frostburg State men's soccer team took on Alderson Broaddus in a thrilling 2-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

The first half started off strong for the Bobcats with an early goal from sophomore midfielder Alex Grasso in the first minute of the match. Each team would trade shots, as senior midfielder Daniel Juresic had two shots and one shot on goal. The half would ultimately end with Frostburg leading 1-0.

In the second half, both teams would come out trading shots and getting more aggressive, with several yellow cards shown. On a corner attempt, the Battlers would equalize with a goal from Daniel Prieto in the 54th minute, tying the game at one all. After shots by junior forward Kenny Simms and graduate midfielder Randy Putnam, the game-winning goal would come from senior defender Jose Rodriguez with a rocket shot from the 20-yard line that crashed in off the bar and over the line for the final 2-1 score.

Senior goalkeeper Joel Assal would end the night with five saves on nine shots faced, helping to keep the Battler attack at bay.
