Men's Soccer Falls to Charleston on the Road

CHARLESTON, W. Va.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team traveled to Charleston, W. Va. to face the Golden Eagles in a 5-1 loss. 
 
In the first half it was defensive grudge match between the two squads, with both sharing shots. Graduate Student midfielder Randy Putnam had two shots, both on goal, and junior midfielder Scott Fernandez had one shot on goal. The first half would end with a 2-0 lead for the Golden Eagles. 
 
The second half would be all Charleston with the Golden Eagles scoring two goals with two minutes in between them making the score 4-0 early on. After a couple more shots from freshman defender Caleb Dell and sophomore midfielder Andrew Tenorio. The Bobcats would answer with a penalty shot goal from sophomore defender Alex Retzos making the score 4-1. With a late goal from the Golden Eagles the match would end with a score of 5-1.
 
Senior goalkeeper Joel Assal would end the night with three saves and would be sub out for fellow goalkeeper Parker Shugars who would make two saves on the night. 
 
The Bobcats fall to 7-8-1 while the Golden Eagles improve to 14-1-1 on the season. The Bobcats final match of the regular season will be at home against West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, November 3 at 7 PM. For more information and updates, visit www.frostburgsports.com.
