GAME NOTES
PRIOR TO KICKOFFÂ Â Â Â Â
- The Frostburg State Bobcats will hit the road this weekend and travel to Fairmont, W. Va. to take on the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State this week.
Frostburg enters the matchup vs Fairmont State this week after a 41-17 homecoming victory over the Wheeling Cardinals in the seventh
week of the season.
Fairmont State enters the matchup after dropping their matchup last week against West Liberty on the road, 52-31.
SERIES HISTORYÂ Â Â Â Â
-Frostburg State leads all-time series: 1-0. The last contest between the two teams was September 26, 2019 at Duvall-Rosier Field where the Bobcats captured the victory 41-34 in double overtime. Fairmont State would go up 28-9 at the end of the third quarter, but the Bobcats would storm back to tie things when
senior Gavin Lavat rushed in the game tying touchdown from four yards out with under a minute remaining.
Senior Lincoln Ikwubuo would catch the game winning touchdown for the Bobcats from nine yards out to secure the victory.
LAST TIME OUT ON EACH SIDEÂ Â Â Â
- Last time out for the Bobcats was a 41-17 homecoming victory over the Wheeling Cardinals at Bobcat Stadium. After the Cardinals scoring first, the Bobcats would build a 24-10 lead by the halftime mark. Into the second half,
graduate student Zae Giles would begin to put on a show. Giles would return the opening kickoff of the second half 91-yards for a score. Later in the third quarter, Giles would take a 65-yard pass from
redshirt freshman QB Graham Walker into the endzone to add to the lead. Â
While all of the scoring from long plays was happening, the defensive side was also having quite the day.
Senior Carl Igweh terrorized the Wheeling offense all day, totaling 6 sacks in one contest. Those six sacks would be good enough for a new Mountain East Conference single game record, surpassing the original mark of five. This mark was also good enough for a new school record as well. The performance netting Igweh multiple awards from around the division II landscape. Â
- The Fighting Falcons traveled to West Liberty to battle the Hilltoppers, in a contest that saw many lead changes. By halfway through the second quarter, Fairmont State held a 17-7 lead. However, by the end of the third quarter, WL took the lead 24-21. The fourth quarter was all WL as they piled it on to secure the victory at home, with two pick sixes, a safety, and a 46 yard passing touchdown, defeating the Fighting Falcons 52-31.

Junior Luke Freeman ranks fourth in the MEC in the tackles for loss department after seven weeks with a stat line that reads: nine solo, five assisted for an 11.5 total and 59 yards. Additionally,
senior Hauns White ranks eighth in the MEC with nine solo, two assisted for a total of 10 and 49 yards.
Senior Carl Igweh entered the top five this week as well at number two with a stat line of: eleven solo, eight assisted for a total of 15 and 86 yards.
BREAKING RECORDSÂ Â Â Â Â

Senior Carl Igweh had a record breaking performance last week registering six sacks against Wheeling. The record broke the Mountain East Conference former record of 3.5 which was tied between three players and broke the former school record of 5.0 which was held by Jordan Procter from 2016 vs St. John Fisher.

Senior Malik Morris sits at fourth in receiving leaders for the conference with 27 receptions for 561 yards, 6 TDs, with a 80.1 avg/g.
