PHILIPPI W. Va. - The Frostburg State women's basketball team opened with a good start on the road against the Alderson Broaddus Battlers, but fell short in the second half losing 93-70. Junior Drew Dunathan led the Bobcats with 13 points and six rebounds while junior Morgan Dombroski recorded 13 points and three rebounds on the night.
FSU started the scoring with Dombroski dropping the first two points three minutes into the game. AB was quick to answer with a good two pointer seven seconds. Frostburg finished the first quarter out strong, giving the Bobcats a six-point lead to go into the second quarter. It was a back-and-forth battle between FSU and AB during the second quarter, but the Bobcats struggled to keep their lead with AB dropping two points with one second left in the half, pulling them ahead to 40-38.
FSU struggled early in the third, giving up two unanswered baskets allowing the Battlers a six-point lead. Sophomore Arianna Briggs-Hall sparked the Bobcats with a good free throw for the first basket in the second half. AB was quick to respond with another basket less than a minute later bringing the score to 46-39. FSU was quick to respond to AB's three pointers with a three pointer of their own from first year Kyrsten Joseph. That still was not enough for FSU to catch up, ultimately leaving the Bobcats behind at the end of the third with the score being 69-60.
AB started strong three unanswered free throws in the first 50 seconds of the fourth quarter. Dunathan earned the first basket of the quarter for the Bobcats. It was a though battle between FSU and AB, but AB pulled ahead enough to win the game 93-70.
