Frostburg Comes Up Short At Home To Notre Dame

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's team falls short in hard fault battle in its home game against Notre Dame College. This loss drops Frostburg to 2-4 on the season and Notre Dame to 5-. 1 Junior Morgan Dombroski led the Bobcats with 26 points, six rebounds and one assist.  Sophomore Arianna Briggs-Hall had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bobcats started off the first quarter with a layup from first year Brenae Ford. Frostburg took its first lead of the game at the 3:47 mark during the first quarter when sophomore Ciara Thomas made her first bucket of the afternoon.

First-year Rhiana Hall started the Bobcat's second quarter off with a layup making the score 19-12. With 2:21 left in the second quarter Morgan Dombroski made her third three-pointer of the half. The Bobcats went into the half leading 34-28.

FSU added to their lead, 38-31, in the third when Sophomore Shelby Funchess scored her first points of the game. Arianna Briggs-Hall converted both foul shoots at the 5:08 mark making the score 42-35 Frostburg. Kyrsten Joseph gave the bobcats a lift with a made three-pointer to end the quarter up one point.

The Bobcats struggled to score in the beginning of the fourth quarter, giving the Falcons a four-point lead against FSU with a score of 53-49. Ford woke the Bobcats up at the 5:40 mark after making one of two free throws. Morgan Dombroski followed that up with a two-point jumper making the score 53-51. Dombroski hit another tree to pull FSU within five with 54 seconds remaining. Notre Dame pulled off the win with a final score of 67-61.

Frostburg returns to action Wednesday January 26th as they host the Glenville State Pioneers. Tip off is set for 5:00 PM.
