ATHENS, W.Va. – The Frostburg State men's soccer team opened its Mountain East Conference slate on Sunday with a 0-0 double OT draw at Concord.
Frostburg (0-1-1) held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first half, but Concord rebounded to finish the match with a 14-11 advantage in shots.
The Bobcats put three shots on goal in the opening half. First-year Louie Kerdock took Frostburg's first shot on goal of the afternoon in the 12
th minute, but his attempt was saved by Concord keeper Kyle Brown.
FSU junior Youness Benmouna attempted the other two shots on goal in the opening half at 21:12 and 34:49 and both shots were turned away.
After attempting just one shot in the second half and one in the first overtime frame, the Bobcats turned up the pressure in the second OT with two shots on goals. Kerdock attempted a shot at 102:05 and sophomore Trevor Namie took the final shot of the game for FSU at 107:05.
The Bobcat defense allowed just three shots on goal from the Mountain Lions (1-0-1) despite the hosts being awarded eight corner kicks. Sophomore keeper Joel Assal saved all three shots on goals in 110 minutes of action. Benmouna led the Bobcats with five shots.
The Bobcats return to action next Sunday at West Liberty at 1:00 pm.
