COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Frostburg State Men's Soccer team picked up their first victory of the 2026 season that also marked the opening win for first year Head Coach Lamine Balde, with a 3-0 decision on the road against Ohio Dominican on Sunday afternoon.
 
In a first half that didn't feature too many chances, FSU would be the first to create an opportunity just over eight minutes in. After battling for a loose ball in midfield, sophomore Christ Fopossi gained control and fed a perfectly-weighted through ball to classmate Inzaghi Harmon, who was clear in on goal and finished into the far left post for a 1-0 lead.
 
Seven minutes later, as the Bobcats played the ball out from the back, senior Brian Gomez played Harmon through down the left wing, as he smartly crossed to sophomore Nate Kennedy to fire home Frostburg's second of the day. It took 22 minutes for ODU to find their footing, as a chipped shot from outside the box had graduate Josiah Emerson backpedaling and leaping to nab the ball out of the air. Six minutes later, Emerson was called into action again, as he easily gathered a free kick from distance.
 
With seven minutes to go in the half, the Panthers thought they had a way back into the game, as a cross bounced kindly to Kristofer Ninov, looking to slot home unmarked, however Emerson made himself big enough to shut down the shot and have it cleared away to preserve the two-goal lead. 90 seconds before the horn, junior Dom Good had the final effort of the half, looking to score on a 25-yard free kick that was pushed away on the bounce by Brandyn Bowden for a 2-0 halftime score.
 
Coming out of the break, FSU wasted little time in adding to the advantage, as sophomore Frank Stare controlled a bouncing ball at midfield and awaited an overlapping run from junior Andrew Denard before playing him in, as the right back drove to the penalty area and coolly finished the third score of the game. Frostburg kept the pressure up over the next seven minutes, with graduate Mateo Cuadros and Fopossi both firing over the bar, while Inzaghi was denied a second at the near post after a surging run into the box.
 
Midway through the second frame, Fopossi tried a curling free kick that was caught by Bowden, then Emerson made a fantastic reaction stop on a half volley by Maddux Camden. Entering the final 20 minutes, Ohio Dominican had a shot go well over the bar following a corner, while Good saw his shot stopped by Bowden on a breakaway chance. Neither side generated much in the last minutes of the game, as the Bobcats maintained their clean sheet in the 3-0 victory.
 
FSU had double ODU's shots at 10-5, with seven on target to the hosts' four.
 
With the win, Frostburg improves to 1-0-1 on the year, while Ohio Dominican begins their season 0-1. The Bobcats will next play their home opener on Wednesday, September 2 to face Bloomsburg at 7 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
